Curious about becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)? This video, IBCLC and Beyond, walks you through what the journey looks like — from eligibility to examination.

Please note: This video was produced in 2024. A few things have since been updated:

  • From April 2025 onwards, the 90 hours of lactation-specific education now requires 2 hours specifically on the WHO Code, plus 5 hours of communication skills education.
  • Certification fees increased by approximately 5% effective from the April 2025 examination.
  • IBCLC certificates are now issued digitally — no more waiting for paper certificates in the post.

Always refer to the official IBLCE website for the most current requirements.
