Biographical Info

A lactation consultant in private practice. since 2008. Obtained bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) in 1998, Master of Information and Multimedia Technology from Universitii Tun Abdul Razak, in 2003 and Master of Science in Women’s Health from USM in 2023. She became passionate about breastfeeding since her first born and started up an online mother to mother support named SusuIbu.com in 2004. She received training in lactation management and counselling skill from Baby Friendly Initiative trainings in the local hospital and was certified as a lactation consultant by IBLCE since 2008. Kamariah was co-founder and past president of Malaysian Breastfeeding Peer Counsellor Association, MBFPCA. She is also a certified translator from English to Bahasa Melayu. She has translated many breastfeeding materials and led translation team for breastfeeding videos series in Malay by Global Health Media Project. Kamariah has served the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, WABA as local governance council from 2016 to 2020 and is serving the International Lactation Consultant Association, ILCA as board of director from 2017 to 2023. She continues her passion working in community as breastfeeding activist and advocates.
